I thought I’d share a little about what I've been working on this week because it’s a great example of how one trend can work in completely different ways.
The trend in question is That’s Amore.
Italian-inspired bridal shower themes are everywhere right now: lemons, pasta, wine, handwritten menus, relaxed table styling. Pinterest is full of them, and they’re proving really popular with clients too.
But what’s interesting isn’t just that the trend is popular.
It’s how differently it can be interpreted.
Looking at Trends From Two Angles
Whenever I spot a trend like this, I tend to look at it from two sides:
-
as a stationery designer creating finished invitations and event pieces
-
and as someone creating clipart for other designers to use in their own work
And one thing has become very clear:
The same trend can suit completely different people depending on how it’s styled.
So instead of creating one single “That’s Amore” look, I explored the theme in two very different directions.
Style One: Romantic Watercolour
This version leans soft, painterly, and elegant.
Think destination bridal showers, Tuscan villas, long tables, linen napkins, and a slower, more refined feel. The colours are gentle, the illustrations have a hand-painted look, and everything feels calm and timeless.
This style works beautifully for:
-
refined colour palettes
-
elegant hosts
-
designs that feel classic rather than playful
It’s the kind of look that doesn’t shout — it quietly invites.
Style Two: Quirky & Fun
The second direction takes the same theme but gives it a completely different personality.
This version is more graphic, more playful, and a little bit cheeky. Bolder shapes, stronger character, and a relaxed “wine night with friends” vibe.
It’s perfect for:
-
modern or casual bridal showers
-
people who love colour and personality
-
fun games, signage, and laid-back invitations
Same trend. Totally different energy.
Why This Matters for Designers
What I love about this is that both styles work for the same trend. They just appeal to different people.
And honestly? Most designers end up mixing a bit of both, depending on the project.
This is why trends don’t have to feel restrictive or repetitive. You don’t need to copy what everyone else is doing - you can interpret what’s popular in a way that fits your style and your audience.
Try It Yourself (Without the Pressure)
I’ve added a small sampler pack with elements from each style to my freebie and resources vault — the Sandra Loves Creating Hub, which you unlock once you’re signed up.
Inside the sampler you’ll find a few pieces from each style, so you can:
✨ play with them in your own designs
🧭 see which direction feels most natural to you
🎨 mix and match in whatever way suits your project
The sampler also includes a handful of exclusive elements that aren’t part of the full packs.
You’ll find it tucked away in the Freebies section of the Sandra Loves Creating Hub, which you get access to when you join my free 5-Product Clipart Challenge.
It’s where I keep extra freebies, mini tutorials, helpful tools, and quiet bits of inspiration for subscribers.
Interested in the full clipart packs in my Etsy store?
They’re both designed to be easy to mix, match, and adapt across invitations, signage, and party details.
Have a little look if you’re curious. Of couse, no pressure at all.
One Trend, Many Possibilities
If there’s one takeaway from this, it’s this:
Trends aren’t rules. They’re starting points.
And the more confidently you interpret them in your own way, the more your work will stand out.
So ...... are you more Team Watercolor, Team Quirky - or somewhere in between?
Thanks so much for being here and creating alongside me!
